Hackers target French tourist sites, including a 2024 Olympics venue, demanding cryptocurrency ransom.

Hackers have executed a significant cyberattack on the Grand Palais museum, a venue for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics, and about 40 other French tourist sites. The attack compromised the data processing systems of these locations, allowing the hackers to access sensitive financial information. The cybercriminals have threatened to leak this data unless they are paid a ransom in cryptocurrency. The French Anti-Cybercrime Brigade (BL2C) is investigating the incident. Despite the breach, the affected museum shops continue operations, and Olympic events remain unaffected.

The exact cryptocurrency demanded and the ransom amount are still unclear. This attack is part of a growing trend of cyberattacks on tourist hotspots, raising concerns about the vulnerability of major events like the Olympics to such threats.
